Context:
Oakland Feather River Camp, located near Quincy, Calif., was established in 1924 by the City of Oakland Department of Recreation. For years, the overnight camp was administered out of the Studio One Art Center. The city ran the camp until 2003 when, due to budget pressures, it turned over the camp operation to the nonprofit Camps in Common. Staff and teachers at Studio One continue each summer to hold a week-long arts program at Feather River Camp.
