Owners of Asmara Restaurant, Okba and Keseste Yohannes, in front of their Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurant at 5020 Telegraph Avenue (formerly 5010 Telegraph Avenue), Temescal District, Oakland, Calif. They bought the building and opened the restaurant in 1985. At the time, the only other restaurant in the area featuring cuisine from the Horn of Africa was the Blue Nile, off Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley near the UC Berkeley campus.
