Context:
"McDonald's was built in 1971. Before then, that space was a shopping center with a produce market, a grocery store and several smaller shops including a diner called, if memory serves me, The Spot. The shopping center was L-shaped, with the short leg of the L [where the produce store was] situated adjacent to Hooper's Chocolates and perpendicular to Telegraph and the long leg against the fence of what was then called Woodrow Wilson Junior High School. The grocery store was connected to the produce market and ran along a portion of the long leg of the L. A parking lot filled the remaining space." [Harry Yaglijian note]
