MLK-west side 5300 block 2014
Description:
View of a portion of the west side of the 5300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way (formerly Grove Street.), just south of 54th Street, Temescal district, Oakland, Calif. Prior to the construction of the El Cerrito BART line in the 1960s, for which this section of Grove Street was widened, a row of one- and two-story commercial buildings (with apartments above), including the Santa Fe Bakery and a grocery store, stood on this side of the street. All of those buildings were demolished when the BART elevated right-of-way was constructed.
