Street repair crew working at the intersection of Telegraph Avenue and 44th Street (looking south), Temescal district, Oakland, Calif. Emil Villas Hick'ry Pit restaurant (which later moved to the Rockridge Shopping Center) is on the left. This image is part of a series of photographs documenting the removal of streetcar tracks on, and the repaving of, Telegraph Avenue in Oakland, from approximately 32nd Street to the Oakland city line, just north of 66th Street. The work was completed roughly between August 18, 1955 and September 20, 1955.
