Intersection of Rich Street (coming in from the lower left) and 42nd Street (looking west toward Telegraph Avenue), Temescal district, Oakland, Calif. Over the years, the one-story commercial building in the photograph, which sits on the northeast corner of Telegraph Avenue and 42nd Street, has been home to several businesses, including a Safeway market, liquor store, seismic retrofitting and structural engineering contractor, and yoga studio. In 2016, the owner of this property applied to the city of Oakland to have the building demolished and replaced with a five-story multi-unit residential building with ground floor retail.
