Description:
Frederick Apartments, 530-36 41st Street (looking northeasterly), Temescal district, Oakland, Calif. The house at the far left was demolished in the 1960s to make way for the construction of Highway 24 (the Grove-Shafter Freeway), which runs a short distance to the west of the Frederick Apartments. Also resulting from the construction of Highway 24, 41st Street, which had connected with Martin Luther King Jr. Way (formerly Grove Street) to the west, was cut off and looped to the north to connect with 42nd Street on the eastern side of the freeway.
