Lunchtime customers (note the lack of store signage) line up outside Bakesale Betty, at 5098 Telegraph Avenue The bakery, which is known for its fried chicken sandwich, was opened in 2005 by Australian-born Alison Barakat and her husband, Michael Camp.

Description:
Southeast corner of Telegraph Avenue and 51st Street, Temescal district, Oakland, Calif. The building was constructed in 1907. The Alden Wine Depot, on the corner at 5098 Telegraph Avenue, and billiard hall next door, occupied the ground floor; living quarters were on the second floor. The building was remodeled in the mid-1930s. Note the wooden water trough for horses at bottom center. Engine House No. 8, constructed in 1901, can be seen at the far left in the background.
