Date of Document:
College Avenue and Miles Avenue, Oakland, Calif.
Several buildings wrapping around the northwest corner of Shafter Avenue and College Avenue, including 5665-79 Shafter Avenue, were demolished to make way for the construction of the Grove-Shafter Freeway (Highway 24) and the Rockridge BART station. In the process, Shafter Avenue was "bent" slightly to the east as it approached College Avenue so that it aligns with Keith Avenue on the east side of College Avenue. This photograph was expressly taken to match the scene of an earlier photograph.
